Before You Register: What to Expect and How We Support You

Registering should be simple for everyone, whatever tools or support you use to get online. If you rely on a screen reader, keyboard navigation, voice control or magnification software, you should be able to complete the form without a mouse. If any part of the process is confusing or does not work with your setup, please let us know through our contact page. Reports like these help us find and remove barriers we may have missed.

Information we ask for, and why

We try to ask only for what we need to keep in touch with you and send updates that are relevant to you. In most cases that means:

  • Your name and email address, so we can send updates and confirm your registration.
  • Your general location, such as your state or city, so we can tell you about local issues and community events.
  • Your communication preferences, for example plain-language summaries, large-print documents or text-only email.

You do not have to share details about a disability or a health condition to register. Any optional questions are clearly marked, and you can skip them.

Choosing how involved you want to be

Some members want to read our policy briefs and follow legislative changes. Others want to take part in public comment periods, share their own experiences of inaccessible services, or volunteer. Registering does not commit you to anything. You can read about current advocacy priorities on our policy page and learn about more active roles on Get Involved whenever you are ready.

Managing your registration

You can change your preferences or stop receiving messages at any time. If you need help updating your details, or if someone is supporting you through the process, such as a family member, caregiver or advocate, they are welcome to contact us for you with your permission.
